For your convenience...
Welcome!
As I already introduced myself on my overview page, my name is Kimberly Laughlin, sole proprietor of PEN in HAND Services, which includes the four subdivisions shown here with each company's banner.
Among being an editor and resume writer under PEN in HAND Services, I am also a Graphic Designer, Web Designer, Website Creator, Copywriter, and Website Content Writer, all of which are services that make up my Affordable Web Design by Kimberly's Graphic Designs subdivision.
🏆 And I am a proud winner as one of the “2024 Nextdoor Neighborhood Faves” of Nextdoor’s 8th Annual Local Business Awards.
One great convenience for both of us is that I work remotely from Saint Petersburg, FL, so wherever you are, I can accommodate you.
Further down, you will find my "Useful Tools and Features" and "My Demonstrated Web Design Experience" sections, where I explain many details about my website creation services.
I also posted "Table of Contents" links throughout this page so you can easily find whatever information you are looking for.
Who Do I Do Web Design For?
• New Business Owners: Perhaps you cannot afford expensive web design services. I can help you, because I make sure to be affordable for people in such a position.
• Established Business Owners: Maybe you are a business owner with graphic design and/or web design needs that I can assist you with.
I can design online ads, logos, and banners for posting on social media ad pages, local advertising sites, your own website, or what have you. Whatever it is you need, I can design it for you.
• Anyone Else Who Needs a Website: I can design and build a user-friendly website that will be exquisite, well-structured, integrated with useful tools, and so much more.
• Anyone Else Who Has a Website That Could Be Improved: I can design various additions for you that will make your website more efficient, attention-grabbing, and appealing.
Whatever the case, I would love to design or improve your website. Whether you want something simple or extravagant, I can accommodate you.
I have designed websites from the most basic to more massive, such as my two websites, all of which I discuss further down, starting with "My Demonstrated Web Design Experience."
My Web Design Services Rates and Discounts
My Regular Web Design Rates start at only $100.
Moreover, my discounts that are explained below save my clients even more money.
Who doesn't want to save even more money on already affordable Web Design Services?
I offer a 50% U.S. Military Discount on all my services, including web design, because I have a huge heart for those sacrificial, unselfish men and women, and I want to show my appreciation.
It is well-deserved!
Thank you for your noble service!
Otherwise, I still offer 20% off my web design services so all other great individuals can also save money.
Useful Tools and Features
Here, I point out some of the useful features that I integrate into the websites that I construct.
• A Top Bar that scrolls important information at the top of every page.
• A Search Icon that initiates a search bar for the website.
• A Call-to-Action Button that links directly to the phone number or email address provided.
• A Service Inquiry Form where prospects can relay the details of what they need via email.
• A Product or Payment Page where customers can purchase items or where clients can make a payment through Stripe Payment Service Provider.
I also integrate Collapsible Sections for certain content that would take up a lot of room, such as FAQs, a Table of Contents, a long list of reviews, or whatever else can neatly be tucked away in a collapsible to prevent cluttered content. I also code for Navigation Links that take the viewer to a particular section on the same page or another page so that they can easily go directly to the desired information.
My Service Inquiry Form
Another Very Useful Tool
My Service Inquiry Form is a convenient tool - installed on my website - for getting detailed information about how I may assist potential clients as their Editor, Resume Writer or Reviser, Graphic Designer, or Web Designer.
Their information goes directly to my email and saves them some time by not having to type everything in due to the check boxes and multiple-choice circles. And they can also upload any attachments that might be helpful, such as the document they need edited or their current resume that needs to be revised. Here is a screenshot of the form, but you can also view the real thing by clicking on the button below.
My Demonstrated Web Design Experience
I designed everything throughout this website, as well as created my own copy and wrote my own content, and I continually make improvements wherever I can.
Overall, I did all of the Creating, Designing, Structuring, On-page SEO, Copywriting, and Content Writing, throughout the following two clients' websites as well as my own website.
Of course, I also do any of the maintenance that is required.
The reviews that my web design clients posted on this website ("Client Review Posts") are displayed in the image posted here in this section.
Three Completely Different Websites...
(Mine, which is massive, and theirs, which are both simple - one skilled trade website and one online store.)
I am providing these two examples because they are two completely different types of websites from each other and compared to my own. My website is much more massive because of all the services I offer, while theirs are simple and basic because both their websites' purposes are simple and basic, yet with completely different target audiences.
They both posted reviews, which are the ones I had already shown above.
Skilled Trade Website
Ethan's website has a neat, clean, and simple look, which is fitting for his window cleaning services, yet it is also complete with all the information a potential client could possibly need, including his references.
Website for Window Cleaning Services:

Ethan Smith, Owner and Operator
Ethan's Flyer, Online Ads, and Banner, all of which I designed from scratch and used his original photos:
Online Store
Dianne's website has an appearance that creates a "beachy" atmosphere for her visitors, making her beach decor products even more enticing, even if it is only for someone they have in mind.
Website for Selling Hand-Crafted Beach Decor:

I am proud to say that I have attained a dynamic rapport with my web design clients. First of all, my clients love that my high-quality, affordable services are also professional, personable, and accessible. But there is more...
About My Own Websites
1) PEN in HAND Editing, which includes Resume Services by PEN in HAND, and
2) Kimberly's Graphic Designs, which includes Affordable Web Design by Kimberly's Graphic Designs, with a total of four subdivisions that intermingle very nicely.
I integrated their pages with each other using links and buttons, so that all of my services can be easily and directly explored, no matter which one strikes an interest.
As I said, all of my services intermingle very nicely. First of all, my Editing experience comes in handy when I am Copywriting and Writing Content, and vice versa. Also, I have had it happen, for instance, that I get an Editing client who is starting their own business and has an interest in my Web Design services, and even the other way around, where a Web Design client needed my Editing services.
My PEN in HAND Subdivisions
I created and continually maintain my own two websites—pen-in-hand.com, which is this website, of course, and kimberlys-graphic-designs.com, which is under construction at this time while I renovate it.
My Previous Two Websites
I had also created two other websites earlier on—one for my proofreading services, which was the beginning of my editing business, and one for my graphic e-cards (ecards). Neither website is up nor running anymore because of the integration that I performed. My point is, I have created a total of four of my own websites. I did not know everything I needed to in the beginning—I had to learn a lot, but I taught myself what I was lacking by doing it myself and with much research since I simply did not yet have the funds to pay someone to do it for me. Those are the individuals I want to help—people who do not have much in funds to work with, especially if they are just starting out in their business endeavor, and who need experienced assistance from someone more knowledgeable with creating, designing, and building a website.
My Use of Visuals and Written Content
I often use visuals, such as graphic ads and diagrams, to communicate about certain aspects of my services. My Graphic Design creativity enables me to create attractive ads, logos, banners, and diagrams to enhance any website.
In fact, again, according to purpleplanet.com:
"Visual content is proven to help users digest complicated or detailed information more easily than text content. Plus, visual content is more memorable than other forms."
For this reason, visuals are a terrific way to get and keep your viewer's attention on what you are aiming to portray, with less page content to read through to find that information. For example, I designed this ad to explain the details of my Web Design Services. It is sure to catch some viewers' eyes, while it takes up less room with the details all right there.
However, not everyone is visual. So, I also put it into my text content using a collapsible, for SEO purposes and for people who just want to read through content to get the information.
Many people prefer to read through material instead. Accordingly, I make sure to include information using visuals as well as textual content on the web page to provide as much information as I can.
And that is one reason my copywriting and content writing skills, as well as my articulation skills, all come in very handy. A lot of people do not necessarily have the writing skills that it takes to put together content that is professional, concise, and attention-getting.
In summary, a combination of both visuals and textual content is most effective, which makes perfect sense.
My Logo and Banner Design
by Kimberly's Graphic Designs
Striking and attention-getting logos and banners are vital, especially when they are animated or specially designed to attract attention.
Your logo and banner are the first things visitors will see on most social media platforms, many company ad posting websites, and your own website, so the more striking, attractive, and professional they are, the better. Examples of my banner designs appear just below.
As far as examples of my online ad designs, they are all over this website. Over time, I have designed over a hundred ad pages of my own for my websites, social media pages, and online ads, along with certain promotional ads that periodically need to be redesigned. The following ad page explains what I believe to be very important details about my logo design.
My Diagram Design and Integration
Diagrams can be visually efficient tools for illustrating certain aspects of your business.
According to purpleplanet.com: "Visual content is proven to help users digest complicated or
detailed information more easily than text content. Plus, visual content is more memorable than other forms."
For instance, I integrate diagrams into my websites to illustrate such things as my Customer Service Guidelines and Client Project Process, which can be viewed with the link below, and my Editing Process, found on my Editing Services page, in which I designed a flow Diagram (or flow Chart) that maps it out. Rather than long, drawn-out text to explain it, a diagram sums it all up in one simple image. Of course, there are diagram templates and apps out there, but I prefer to design my own, making the design less limiting, more unique, and more visually appealing.
So, I custom design my diagrams according to what I would like to illustrate, and I can do the same for you.
